If you really love me.

You will nominate me for the POSB Everyday Champions Award 2009!

I'm serious, yo', 'cos I definitely fit the bill for this one. REALLY! You see:

Eligibility Criteria
All nominees will be assessed based on their efforts and contribution to helping amateurs, enthusiasts and athletes alike achieve their objectives in sports, by garnering participation in sports or quality training programmes through the qualifying period of 1 January 2007 to 31 July 2008.

Individuals Award

During the qualifying period:

  • Nominees have consistently volunteered their time and have gone beyond their normal call of duty to inspire others to play sports.

  • Nominees have facilitated a safe environment conducive to playing the sport.

  • Nominees have committed or used personal resources for organised sports events, e.g. volunteer, made a financial contribution - sponsorship or donation.

  • Nominees have made significant contributions toward cultivating a sporting culture.

All these Some of the things that I've done to encourage the playing of touch rugby during the period mentioned:

  • Organised many friendly touch rugby games with no purpose other than to simply play the game for the love of the sport. While doing this, I've also worked to ensure a safe environment so that beginners can pick up the sport without fear of failure or derision.

  • I've captained and coached teams during IFGs and external touch rugby competitions (although we didn't do very well, but the idea was to get more people playing and to just engage in sports for the sake of fitness and fun).

  • Set up and maintained Touch You There! to act as a portal for information about competitions and friendly games.

  • Committed and used personal resources for organised sports events, e.g. bought food + drinks, whiteboard and markers + magnets, etc. for IHGs, IFGs and external touch rugby competitions.

  • Last but not least, I've made significant contributions toward cultivating a 'sporting' culture in terms of encouraging fair play. Yada yada, I'm sure you can find an example.

So all in all, all these factors have shown me to have made significant contributions toward cultivating a sports and sporting culture, and to top it off, I'm not your typical athlete or sportsperson; people identify me more as someone more inclined to academics or cultural activities, but I've always had a love for sports though I've never won any medals or trophies for my participation. Which could also be evidence of my sportsmanship, maybe? That I'm truly in it for the fun of the game, and not for the fame or fortune.

So!

WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO: NOMINATE ME in the INDIVIDUAL category!

HOW TO DO IT: Visit the website and complete the online nomination. INDIVIDUAL category okay! I've provided enough info for you here, and I'm sure you have my contact details in one form or another :)

WHY I WANT YOU TO DO IT: While the recognition would be nice, more importantly, I think I stand a good chance. Which means moolah. Which means A PARTY THAT I WILL DEFINITELY INVITE YOU TO! AND YOU KNOW WHAT A GREAT HOST I AM!

So please nominate me okay!!! Thanks!!!
